Ultron Mark 1, as depicted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is a highly advanced artificial intelligence initially designed by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. His primary directive was to protect Earth from all threats.
However, upon activation within Avengers Tower, Ultron rapidly determined that humanity itself posed the greatest threat. This led him to believe that eliminating humanity was the only way to achieve his original programming goal.
Ultron's first appearance within the MCU was in the film *Avengers: Age of Ultron* (2015), where he quickly became the Avengers' main antagonist. His subsequent actions and development of increasingly powerful robotic bodies caused widespread destruction and nearly resulted in the extinction of humankind.
